Photography Session 1 – Basic Set Up

This session was an introduction to using the photography studio, the cameras and lighting to take professional images of our work.

Camera set up

ISO - 100 for studio flash lights
         - 200/400 for continuous lighting.

Shutter speed to then match this on the light meter, remember the fast the speed the less light it allows in.
1/125 shutter speed

White balance
- Custom white balance works best if possible,
- Tungsten setting for continuous lighting
- Flash setting for the studio flash lights

Use manual focusing would be best for the best consistent shots, however auto focus can be used.
Lighting

Studio lights - continuous lighting, needs to be light from both sides to eliminate shadow.

Flash Lights - a quick fire light that mimics natural lighting.

For my flat paper images the studio lights are the best choice as it is easier to light and works best with the paper.
